GRAVES: Easy Not Easy PREORDERS ARE UP & Standards are shipping NOW
Hailing from 2006 with style is Greg Olin’s fourth studio release Easy Not Easy, a beautifully blended album of fourteen telling tracks holding little back in ways of delicious undertones, metaphorical references and melodic swaying throughout the breezy nature that is Graves and all us fans have come to love love love- that happen naturally. (Below is a band camp link to listen to this album in full)
Highlighting No/Where, Breaking Up Is Hard To Do, Val K, And In My Doorway, Death Left A Message just to be tracks I’m singing before they even make way ’round the table. Olin’s entire discography is this way…so you will not have a problem getting your fix if this is an introduction. Unfortunately, for me, I wasn’t lucky enough to stumble on his groovy-ass tunes until around ’08 or ’09. Seven years or so is a long time to miss out on tunes that rightfully find way into one’s regular cycle of things- at least thats how I feel when I find a diamond. Want to scientifically test the hardness of this gem? Put the needle to the evergreen grain…sit down, turn it up a little and tell me if I’m wrong-

This concept art piece was a castle in the air…nearly impractical to reproduce cost effectively the six pieces of hand cut ultra clear plastics have been joined together in harmony by time and the chemical element Al #13 in the year of our King Gizzard, 2017.
The interior artwork is original to the official art provided by KGATLW and is stunning through the Polygondwanaland looking-glass window that has you peering nearly a half-inch deep through the castles interior structure of three 8” lathe-cut records. The visual effects are some what 3d-ish through the transparencies . The triplets are locked down between the far wall and castle window by bolts the treasure seeker must remove with the customized skeleton key to secure the castles grail, the full length album Polygondwanaland.
With an arcane touch and twist of
twine leather, skeleton keys, a castle, locks, maps and imagery on an aged paper appeal involving sacred geometry? Throw some dust on it and call it genuine as it gets if cryptic is your style
As if this wasn’t enough…it turns out the album is following traditions of the gizzard way of sending records out in pizza boxes…and not without good reason. The pi-
zza box converts to a homemade projector allowing you to project the album art and looking-glass onto any surface up to about 80 inches!….obviously white walls suiting best for clear results on a large scale- but remember, its a pizza box. If you are across seas and don’t get this in a pizza box- it is the United States postal office at blame for crazy S&H charges…and you may very well need to get your own pizza box from a friendly local pi slinger…and go follow along on instagram for a quick demo on how it works.
(NOTE: all inserts for side walls was cut by hand using a template…therefor may need to be slightly trimmed with scissors for best fit…also I could not find enough white boxes to make the walls of and most are of a standard cardboard tone. For better visuals/brightness use the inserts provided as a template and cut the same from a white box of any kind)
The Three Lathes are hand-cut one at a time by the ever advancing team at Lathe Cuts in the cave hollows of Tucson Arizona using pioneered techniques and specialized cutting needles providing sound quality above par in the world of lathe cut records.

FLOATING ACTION: Is It Exquisite?
Floating Action recordings are the studio fruits brought to life by one man, Seth Kauffman, of the North Carolina mountains.
Well cultured, Kauffman weaves this into his sound and delivers the point with well cultivated releases like his debut album Ting of 2005 and the follow up Research in (2008). Adopting the moniker “Floating Action” in 2009 and releasing the self titled album, Kauffman armed to the groove with his multi-talents as a musician continues to make impressions upon the industry in various ways...I have even read blurbs where he has been referred to as “the Harry Nilsson of our generation”.
Fast-forwarding to 2017 and through eight exquisite albums of growth bringing us to Is It Exquisite? the ninth stunning release in a stacked discography- fans of Floating Action/Seth Kauffman will not be left short-handed and new-combers will be enlightened, most likely finding themselves on an easter-egg-hunt of sorts getting up to speed with his works. Link yourself to his Facebook (@floatingaction) to stay up-to-date on touring info and all other related good stuff. Here is one of the jams featured on Is It Exquisite?
Symbiotically working with a number of well-respected artist such as; Angel Olsen, Dr. Dog, Richard Swift, Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Kauffman has earned his keep as a well respected virtuoso in the industry amongst musicians as well as fans.
“…he’s the most underrated person in music right now and nobody knows about him. And it’s weird….” – Jim James of My Mourning Jacket- Rolling Stone
“Rather than the rote nostalgia such sonic touchstones often yield, Kauffman’s songs hum with the vibrancy of both true believer and radical alchemist.”

AMERICAN MONOXIDE: WEB CONTENT
This is an on going project from last year- transitions, set backs, and refunds and here we are again. I refuse to sell this release until my vision of it is complete.
American Monoxide… Where to start with such a diverse artist. I suppose Dr.Dog would be the subtle approach for the new-comber doing the research. Those of you new to American Monoxide here is the break down: Dimitri Manos is the brain behind these DIY home recordings. Manos genius will captivate those with open ears as no song is really the same…this applies to the debut album In Flight Mode as well as this follow up. Recording with a number of bands I can’t get enough of; Golden Boots (LABRYYYTH), Bradford Trojan, Krab Legz, Dr. Dog as mentioned and the general musical population of Tuscan AZ…
Whats been created with this release is unique for certain. Here is a bit I took from a review-american-monoxide-web-content-private-browser over at 50thirdand3rd…
“The album sleeve looks like a retro computer, and the sleeves like floppy disc. It perfectly plays up on web aspect of the album title, but it doesn’t stop there! Enclosed in the packaging is a paper airplane that houses the project’s credits as well as make-shift instructions on how to ‘hack’ the five mysterious, transparent sheets that also come along with the album. The transparent sheets look like a jumbled mess of random markings and what looks like binary code but by following the instructions, the pages must be stacked on top of each other like a puzzle to reveal an article of original artwork. If this wasn’t cryptic enough for you, when the transparent sheets are exposed to UV light for a short period of time then stacked properly, the binary code disappears and reveals the final part of the hack! Each of the Private Browser variants include all the related articles for the hack, random colored vinyl, and album cover silk-screened by hand, making no two releases alike! Upping the ante is the fact there’s less than 50 of this particular variant being produced, making it an extremely collectible release….”
This is also a co-release between PIAPTK recordings and like minded labels, many of which are in the links above- to save space just refer to those links if you are wanting a copy of this while waiting on this one to make way- they have some really dope takes on this as well
